Hilton Pattaya: A High-Rise Stay Above the Gulf of Thailand

Pattaya has changed considerably over the years, but its relationship with the sea remains at the heart of the city. At Hilton Pattaya, that connection is taken upwards. The hotel rises 34 levels above Central Pattaya Beach, with sweeping views across Pattaya Bay and a location that puts the beach, shopping and the city's evening energy almost immediately outside the door.

The address is especially convenient. Hilton Pattaya sits above the Central Pattaya shopping complex, so you can move between the hotel, shops, restaurants and the beach without having to plan your day around transport. But the real reason to stay is what happens when you look outwards. From the upper floors, Pattaya becomes a long curve of coastline, sea and sky.

The Location

The hotel is at 333/101 Moo 9 in Central Pattaya, directly above Central Pattaya Beach.

This puts you in the middle of the action without requiring you to stay in a conventional beachfront resort. The beach is close, while the shopping centre beneath the hotel provides an enormous range of retail and dining options.

It is also a useful base for exploring Pattaya beyond the immediate centre. Spend a morning discovering the city's quieter corners, take a boat out onto the bay, or simply walk along the waterfront before returning to the hotel for an afternoon by the pool.

First Impressions

The first impression is vertical.

Hilton Pattaya is not trying to disappear into the landscape. Its glass-fronted design rises above the city, and once inside, the views become part of the architecture.

The higher you go, the more Pattaya opens up. From the hotel, the bay feels surprisingly expansive, especially around sunset when the water begins to catch the last light.

There is also a useful contrast between the energy of Central Pattaya below and the calmer atmosphere upstairs. You can be surrounded by shops and city life one minute, then sitting quietly beside the pool the next.

Rooms and Suites

The rooms are designed around the view, with floor-to-ceiling windows making the most of the hotel's position above the bay.

There is a broad choice of accommodation, from guest rooms to larger suites, with higher categories offering more space and expansive sea views. The contemporary interiors are comfortable rather than overly ornate, allowing the Pattaya skyline to provide much of the visual interest.

For a first stay, I would prioritise an ocean-facing room. The changing view is one of the hotel's greatest assets, and watching the city wake up or the lights come on after sunset is part of the experience.

The suites are particularly appealing for longer stays, giving you additional living space and a more residential feel.

Dining at Hilton Pattaya

Hilton Pattaya has built its dining around the view, but each restaurant has its own mood.

Horizon

At the top of the hotel on Level 34, Horizon Rooftop Restaurant & Bar is the place to come when the sun begins to drop.

The restaurant combines indoor dining with an open-air terrace overlooking Pattaya Bay. At its centre is the Infinity Bar, where cocktails are designed to be enjoyed with the sunset or under the night sky. The menu includes international dishes with local inspiration, alongside favourites such as a Seafood Tower, Australian Angus Tomahawk Steak, 48-hour lamb shank and Miso Snow Fish. There is also live DJ music each evening.

This is the hotel's most romantic setting, and probably the one I would reserve for the evening when you want to make dinner feel like an occasion.

Drift

On Level 16, Drift Lobby Lounge & Bar takes a much more relaxed approach.

The design draws on Pattaya's fishing heritage, with warm earth tones and natural textures. It is known particularly for afternoon tea, served with views across the bay, but the menu also includes light meals, pastries, coffee and cocktails.

One of the more distinctive details is the Plounge, a series of private island-style seating areas surrounded by water. It is an unusual setting for afternoon tea and equally good for an early evening drink.

Edge

Edge, also on Level 14, is the more energetic dining option, with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the bay.

The restaurant offers a seven-day, seven-theme lunch buffet, weekend brunch and a daily Seafood Extravaganza dinner buffet. The idea is deliberately broad, making Edge an easy choice when everyone in your group wants something different.

Shore

Then there is Shore, the poolside venue on Level 16.

It serves lighter food and drinks beside the outdoor pool, surrounded by landscaped gardens and sun decks. This is where the hotel feels most like a beach resort, particularly during a slow afternoon when there is nowhere else you need to be.

The Pool

The outdoor infinity pool is one of Hilton Pattaya's best places to spend an afternoon.

Because it sits high above the beach, the experience is less about swimming laps and more about looking out across the Gulf of Thailand. There are sun decks and landscaped areas around the pool, while Shore is close by for drinks and food.

It is a particularly good alternative to the beach when the afternoon heat becomes intense.

And then, of course, there is the view. From the water, you are looking over the city rather than simply towards it.

Spa and Wellness

The hotel's spa offers a quieter counterpoint to the rooftop bars and busy city below.

Treatments use Kerstin Florian and Thémaé products, with therapies influenced by Thai wellness traditions. The menu includes jet-lag treatments, facials, massages and body treatments, with both sea-view and couples' treatment rooms available.

There is also a fitness centre for guests who want to keep moving between meals and pool time.

I particularly like the fact that the spa has views. In a hotel built around its relationship with the bay, it makes sense that even the wellness spaces get to look out towards the water.

Pattaya Beyond the Hotel

Hilton Pattaya is a good choice if you want to explore the city but do not want sightseeing to dominate the trip.

Start with the beach, then wander along the waterfront before heading back towards Central Pattaya. For something quieter, spend some time away from the main tourist streets and explore the surrounding coastline.

Pattaya also makes a useful base for day trips, particularly if you want to see a different side of the region. Koh Larn, with its beaches and clear water, is an obvious escape from the city.

Then come back to the hotel in time for sunset.

That last part is important. Hilton Pattaya is one of those places where you want to make sure you are back upstairs before the sky changes colour.

What Sets Hilton Pattaya Apart?

It is the combination of height, location and views.

There are plenty of hotels in Pattaya with access to the beach, and there are plenty of high-rise properties with city views. Hilton Pattaya brings both together while adding a rooftop restaurant, an elevated infinity pool, a full spa and several dining options.

The result is a hotel that feels connected to Pattaya without asking you to take on all of its energy at once.

You can step straight into the city when you want it. Or you can stay upstairs and watch the city from a distance.

Hilton Pattaya makes the most of its position.

It takes the familiar ingredients of a Pattaya holiday, beach, sea, sunshine, restaurants and nightlife, and lifts them above the city. From the infinity pool, the bay stretches out in front of you. At Drift, afternoon tea comes with a different kind of view. And at Horizon, the final light of the day turns the entire coastline into a backdrop for dinner.

The hotel is polished and convenient, but it never forgets where it is.

That is the appeal. You can spend the day exploring Pattaya and still return to a place where the city suddenly feels very far below.
